Brian Thompson, Ph.D.
Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer
Brian Thompson received his Ph.D. from Kansas State University before continuing his research in microbiology in his postdoctoral work at the University of Missouri. While at the university, Brian co-discovered key processes that would become the VersaShield® platform technology of Elemental Enzymes. As President and CEO, Brian is focused on growing Elemental Enzymes into a company that can take complex developing technologies from bench to market. He has worked to establish partnerships with key academic and industry partners to identify and validate next-generation solutions for a variety of industries.
Katie Thompson, Ph.D.
Co-Founder, Chief Operations Officer
Katie Thompson studied molecular and cellular biology at the University of Missouri and received her Ph.D., specializing in the characterization of proteins involved in signaling. Katie has performed several key roles at Elemental Enzymes, including running the day-to-day operations, development of the product portfolio and expansion of the innovation pipeline. She has been involved in partnership establishment, project management and research and product development activities.
Ashley Siegel, Ph.D.
Vice President of Research and Development
Ashley Siegel brings a multidisciplinary background to Elemental Enzymes. Ashley has performed extensive research in muscle regeneration, enzymatic optimization and developmental biology. After completing her Ph.D. at the University of Missouri, Ashley was a research fellow at the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute. She has experience in oncology modeling, genome editing, cell motility and microbial cell interaction. Ashley joined Elemental Enzymes as a Senior Scientist Adviser, providing input on technology diversification and niche marketing, and has transitioned into the role of VP of Research and Development to focus more on product development, patent writing and product efficacy.
Steve L. Trampe
Steve Trampe is the President of Owen Development Corporation, located in St. Louis, Missouri. He has been involved in the startup of numerous companies, serving in the capacity of principal, director, officer and stockholder in various industries, including cosmetics, fish farming, manufacturing, medical diagnostics, retailing, drug discovery and aerospace. Using experience gained through his involvement with these industries, Steve focuses on business governance, finance and corporate strategy at Elemental Enzymes.
Global Commercial Lead
As Global Commercial Lead, Jim Zimmer’s focus is commercial strategy, sales and marketing. After an 18-year career with Monsanto, he most recently served as CEO for Channel Bio, LLC, a company solely owned by Monsanto. A native of Neoga, Illinois, Jim grew up on a 700-acre corn, soybean and wheat farm. During his professional career, he has held a variety of sales, marketing, and executive positions throughout the agricultural industry. He has been recognized with numerous honors for his achievements and dedication to support U.S. farmers. Jim continues to work as a strategic advisor for Becks Superior Hybrids and is a member of the Board of Directors for First Mid Illinois Bancshares, Inc.
Global Business Development Lead
Joe Hanson brings years of commercial development, seed treatment expansion and precision ag experience to Elemental Enzymes. Serving as Global Business Development Lead, Joe develops relationships with basic manufacturers, distribution, retail and growers to help the company launch its unique biotechnology products. During his professional career he spearheaded DuPont Pioneer’s development of a number of new business and service initiatives, built precision agronomy and marketing programs with Helena Chemical, and managed agronomy services for Rabideau Grain. Joe earned his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Science from Illinois State University.
